Installing multiple Creative Live! soundcards

Post by Jim Henry » Tue Oct 07, 2014 11:24 am

I have installed five Creative Live soundcards that are recognized by MidiTzer in "settings / input"

All five cards are listed in the "settings / output," but I cannot get it to display the fifth card when I click on the configuration (right-click).

Help - this is not good.

Can you post a screen shot of the Miditzer input settings screen, ideally with the right click configuration open?

Just a few thoughts!

Is there some other way you can look at the 5x sound cards?
Is there some other sound program you can open to see if it can see all of the soundcards?
Maybe something like VSTHost http://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm
Do they show up in Windows "Device Manager"?
Are you able to see them in "Control Panel" - "Sound"?

I am just wondering if it is the operating system and not Miditzer?
Miditzer won't be able to see them all if Windows doesn't first see them all?
Is it a limitation of the manufacturers drivers for the device?

Jim,

I am out of state on tour this week, but will post several shots of my setup when I return.

I am creating a step-by-step tutorial (that has grown to 88 pages since the tedium requires documentation to get all the details straight) explaining how the system works with four soundcards for sixteen separate speaker outputs, each rank singing thru its own dedicated speaker cab - with dozens of screenshots.

I have added a fifth SoundBlaster for 20 outputs for the 260, and cannot get the fifth soundcard to connect, although MidiTzer recognizes them on its list.

Some folks prefer the stereo setup with fonts, but I have my setup with completely separated pipe ranks designed to teach theatre pipe organ from separated ranks, panned hard left and right (MidiTzer R8 and L8) with speakers marked in a theatre-in-the round - I I guess I never outgrew my first experience with the Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean, heh!

But I cannot get my fifth soundcard to add the additional four ranks (or two additional sets of stereo soundfonts).

Greenfox, my antipodean friend - always good to see you on screen.

(a) MidiTzer recognizes all five cards.
(b) The computer recognizes all five cards (in settings: / sound, etc.).
(c) kX management software recognizes all five soundcards.

So the computer - and MidiTzer - knows all five are there.
It doesn't have a down-arrow to scroll to see more hidden ones on the 'MIDI output display."

Actually, I have this program tuning on three separate computers for three consoles and the ones with four installed soundcards work fine.

Problem is that although MidiTzer recognizes all five (see the attached excerpt) when I right-click on the little yellow "M" / settings / Output / and right-click on MIDI output devices, it will not drop down alternative for more than four of these soundcards (each with their control, synth, synth 2, UART suffixes).

In fact, it displays the fifth card as the fourth card. Weird, huh?

I am trying to "infect" more local potential organists using MidiTzer and soundfonts, and want to install 20 outputs for the 260 MidiTzer version.
