No reponse/sound from pedal

Post by habakkuk1v7 » Fri Oct 17, 2014 9:57 am

Hi Jim Henry,

thank you for giving us your Miditzer 216.

I managed to get it connected to my Viscount Jubileum 232 church organ, everything is working okay except for the pedal board. When i press my organ pedals, the Miditzer screen do not respose and no sound is played either. My laptop is using Win XP.

Please help and thanks a million.

Vincent

I assume that the 232 provides a single 5 pin MIDI out that you are using to connect to your laptop?

The most likely issue is setting the MIDI channel in the Miditzer to correspond to the MIDI channel used by the 232 to identify the Pedal notes. You probably have the default setting of 3 for the Pedal Channel. Go to the Miditzer Settings Input tab and right the 3 to the right of Pedal. Select 4 which is what an instruction book for another Viscount model says is the Pedal channel. There is a pretty good chance this will solve the problem.

If not, look at your MIDI cable. It probably has an LED that flashes every time a note is played. Confirm that it flashes when you play a pedal note.

If you have the flashes for pedal notes, just try all the remaining channel possibilities from 5 to 16. That is just about guaranteed to solve the problem.

Good luck! This should be a nice addition to your Viscount organ.

You may have pistons or stops that control whether MIDI notes are transmitted by each of the manuals. Check to be sure transmission of the Pedal is turned on, particularly if you aren't getting flashes on the MIDI cable when you play pedal notes.
