Introduction to Theatre Organs

There is a slide show that provides an introduction to theatre organs available on YouTube: ... re=related ... re=related

This is an overview of what theatre organs are and their history rather than a technical description. It was produced by the American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS) as a tool for recruiting members.

I always was impressed by the number of stops reproduced by the few few ranks of a TO. The words "unified" and "multiplex" organ remained foggy until:
I came across Samplelord ( google for it and download trial versions). I installed the program, loaded it with the Miditzer SF and connected it to Miditzer and for the first time became aware which ranks are engaged together(!) when a key is pressed under a certain registration or even if only one stop is activated.
Most impressive, if You manage to install a virtual keyboard in receive mode: I never was aware how many keys are involved when playing a chord with a more complex reg and how many don´t really sound if doubled by another manual.
Does this reveal theoretically the secrets of the TO sound?
